Need Help With Legendary?

++Skulls I used on MetaGame++
-IWHBYD
-Grunt Birthday Party (The explosions can set off a chain reaction on grenades – Killtacular anyone?)
-Cowbell (Your nades have a much better explosive radius. Stacks well with Grunt BDay Party)
-Catch (Enemies/Allies throw more grenades, and when they die, they always drop two grenades. Awesome.)
-Tough Luck (Honestly, I did not notice any significant change in gameplay. I called this the “free points” skull)
The following tips/suggestions work with or without skulls and/or metagame turned on
Legendary tips from yours truely:
-Take the time to hoard weapons.
This means that, if you know you’re coming up to a big firefight, that you take the time to scour the map for other weapons and ammo to bring to to battle. You do this by “juggling.”
For example: You’re coming up to a big battle with brutes. Good weapons to use against brutes are Plasma Pistols, BR, and the Carbine. So, you take out your carbine or BR and find a dead grunt or drone. Notice how, when you switch weapons, you toss your swapped weapon a bit ahead of you? Well, you constantly swap weapons until you get to the area in which the fight will take place (or somewhere near it). Leave the plasma pistol there, and go back to find another one. Hoarding is actually a huge time saver in the long run, as you tend to run out of ammo very quickly in Legendary.
-Fire from behind cover.
I know this sounds simple, but many many people still do not know how to do this.
Find something to hide behind that you can shoot over when standing, but can provide cover while you’re crouching. If you can’t find this, find something that can cover your entire body that you can side step in and out of cover with. Having something that you can quickly take cover behind is absolutely essential in Legendary.
-Give yourself a good hour or so to do a level.
Don’t rush yourself. Rushing = More mistakes. The more you die, the more points you lose. Not fun.
-When using weapons, think about how good you are with them and what the weapons themselves are good for.
Sure, the rocket launcher is nice, but it runs out of ammo quickly, is dumb-fire, terrible in small rooms, and blocks some vision in your right side. The AR is great in small rooms, but its damage is too little in Legendary to really be useful. The BR is more versatile because it can be used in practically any situation, although it does tend to run out of ammo quickly. Perhaps take something to back it up, say a plasma weapon or needler? If you know the level well enough, you can anticipate what is coming next and what weapons would do well in the coming battle. As a rule of thumb (if I don’t know what is next) I make sure I have at least one longer range weapon and one Covenant weapon. Brutes have a natural resistance to all human weapons, so having a Covenant weapon on you is usually the best way to go
-Use your brain.
Because some people forget that they have one, I lost hope in playing Co-Op with people. Don’t run in like Rambo and then get pissed off because you die in 2 seconds. Not my fault that you’re stupid.
Out think the enemies. They are smarter, fire faster, are more accurate, and much less likely to run away.
-Enemies can and will surround you.
They will make a habit of taking out your buddies first and then proceed to surround and overwhelm you.
You can avoid this by: Use your brain and avoid taking cover behind objects/places that can easily be overrun. An example of this are crates in the middle of a battle zone. You’re not very resistant to damage anymore, so you cannot depend too much on your shield. Find something that provides cover on more than just one direction.
If an enemy stops shooting and starts talking, chances are they’re prepping a grenade. Don’t take chances and find somewhere else to take cover temporarly until you see that they are not grendaing after all or until the grenade they threw detonates.
-Vehicle-Heavy areas are among the hardest parts in the game.
Again, the enemies will take out your buddies first, so Warthogs are usually, if not always, a bad idea in Legendary.
You can alleviate frustration in these areas by:Always look for a vehicle that you can drive and fire yourself, like a Ghost or a Chopper. Whenever possible, snipe with them. stay the hell away from the other vehicles and snipe them with your Ghost/Chopper weapons; you have infinite ammo. Remember, the more time you spend taking out enemies from afar, the less time you need to worry about dying.
-The Flood.
The enemies everyone loves to hate. This time around, they are a bit easier to take out.
How?
1)They now have “heads” meaning that they can now be taken out with one pistol/battle rifle/carbine shot if you shoot in the right spot. If you see a spot on the flood where three small tentacles converge, that is where the “head” is. Shoot that for an easy kill. (Metagame note: These count as headshots and give you bonus points). NOTE: “Pure” forms do NOT have heads (these are the flood that can change forms: turret/spider-thing/golem)
2)Far and away the best weapons I have found for Flood are the Plasma Rifle and the Sword. If you cannot find these, the Battle Rifle is good most/some of the time, hammer is okay, needler would be excellent if you could carry more ammo, but a good substitute to the sword/Plasma Rifle is the Brute Shot. The melee on it is great, as you can take out “pure” flood forms in 1-2 melee hits and the grenades are fairly accurate and cause decent damage. Ammo is usually abundant for this weapon anyway.
3)When you kill a flood, go up to the body and melee it a few times until it breaks apart. The little flood can (and will) go into old flood bodies/corpses and resurrect them. Destroying flood corpses is always a good idea (don’t go running into oncoming fire to do so, however)
4)You cannot Assassinate flood. Don’t try it. Keep your distance.
5)Flood still prefer meleeing you over shooting. Still, find some good cover and keep them away from melee range; their melee attacks are lethal and are usually fatal.
Scarabs
-Scarab #1 on “The Storm”
The Mangoose is fast and make double sure to use that speed. Never slow down for anything during the vehicle portion. When you take out the AA tanks and their vehicle support, find the Ghost in the this area (its directly opposite to the door you and your squad entered from). The Scarab’s belly is undefended and you can stay under there and avoid taking any fire whatsoever. Concentrate on one of the legs (it’ll take a while) and it will eventually come down. Board it, kill anyone in your way (down go out of your way to kill anyone, however), and take out the core in the rear area of the machine. Once you destroy the core, jump off and get far, far away; anyone you didn’t kill will be killed in the explosion.
-Scarab #2 on “The Ark”
Take Scorpion tank and stay either at extremely long range (to avoid the main guns’ shots) or under it’s belly. Concentrate on one of the legs.
Mount it.
Kill witnesses.
Teabag their corpses.
‘Nade the Core.
Jump off.
Watch fireworks.
Easy.
-Scarab #3 + #4 on “The Covenant”
You should be an expert on this by now. Now you have the advantage in manuverability and height. Cakewalk.
Be sure to take out the Banshees and Ghosts first, as they can screw up your plans.
As for the Scarabs themselves, target a leg first. Then target the red *** on the back with your missles. Once you destroy that, the core will be visible. You already know the rest.
More tips from Pepsicola
You might already know this, but for Scarabs 3 and 4, you can take them out without ever having to leave the safety of your hornet.
1: as you know, kill the banshees/ghosts
2: Fly around back, and look for a little bright blue “button”/orb
3: fire missles and shoot at it until it breaks
4: fly lower (still behind it) and shoot at the core that is now exposed.
5: repeat
Like i said, this is probably common knowledge, but still,if i can help out in any way, i take that oppurtunity
